Cardio Tennis embraces a 'Play Your Way to Fit' philosophy, empowering individuals to make meaningful choices that align with their goals and motivations. The motivations for active Australians have largely changed since the launch of Cardio Tennis, with significant increases to non-fitness related reasons like ‘social connection’ and ‘mental health’. So, what motivates active Australians? Physical health or fitness Fun/enjoyment Social connection Mental health Cardio Tennis now represents much more than just a fitness workout, and is now more holistic and inclusive of an individual’s personal, social, and emotional needs. This new philosophy places the individual at the centre of the experience and acknowledges a person’s basic psychological needs and the impact they have on motivation. These needs are; Autonomy (Choice): Empowering individuals to have control and freedom of choice. Relatedness (Connection): Creating a sense of connection, support, and belonging. Competence (Progress): Improving at tasks that matter to the individual. These basic psychological needs are critical to providing safe and supportive environments that promote inclusion, health & wellbeing, and belonging.
